OSI Food Solutions’ Rise To Fame

The story of OSI Food Solutions is basically a rags-to-riches tale that began back in 1909. This global powerhouse wasn’t always the leader of the pack. OSI Food Solutions began its journey as a meat locker in Oak Park, Illinois. The company was run by Otto Kolschowski, and his two sons. Otto’s Meat Market was the company’s actual name during this time, but it would soon change its name to Otto & Sons in 1928. Business was booming for many years so the Kolschowski family decided to test their luck in food wholesale. This idea ended up changing the landscape in food services for up to 100 years later.

OSI Food Solutions is one of America’s biggest privately held companies. In 2018, the company reported to generating over $6 billion in revenue. Since 2011, OSI has increased its revenue each and every year. This Midwest-based food processor specializes in a number of cooking techniques, which has allowed it to produce a wide array of value-added protein products. This includes the techniques of searing, deep-oil frying, steaming, margination, char-grilling, baking and many more. In addition to that, OSI produces a variety of food products such as:

• Tofu

• Panini

• Chicken Fried Steak

• Beef Patties

• Pot Roast

• Chicken Wings

• Hot Dogs

• Desserts

• Tomatoes

• Flatbread

• Cooked Sausage Links

• And many others

OSI Food Solutions has a huge clientele-base that consists of quick-serve restaurants, large supermarkets, schools, small grocery stores and other food retailers. The company has broadened its presence in foreign countries via acquisitions of BAHO Food and Flagship Europe. OSI Food Solutions has literally changed the game by raising the bar higher than it has ever seen.

Jojo Hedaya: It Takes Passion To Make It In Startups

Jojo Hedaya is the Chief Executive Officer of the team behind the email management service known as Unroll Me. Unroll Me was created in 2011 when Jojo Hedaya and his friend were tired of missing out on important emails because their inbox was cluttered with subscription services. While he wanted to read about the latest deals and news stories, he didn’t want them to keep him from seeing the messages that he needed to read first. He looked for a solution and when he couldn’t find one, he created one himself. Most users of Unroll Me found themselves surprised by just how many email lists they were subscribed to when they did their first scan.

While Jojo Hedaya worked to design Unroll Me to group all subscriptions to one document, Unroll Me does more than that. If you find some email lists that you no longer wish to be included on, it only takes a couple of clicks through Unroll Me to get you off of them with minimal hassle. While spam filters work hard to get rid of a lot of messages from your inbox, they don’t sort subscription emails into a different priority level from the rest of the messages that are in your inbox. When Jojo Hedaya was working with his team to create the service, he made sure to have a diverse group of talented people for the project.

Entrepreneurship is almost always difficult and startups have their own particular set of challenges. Jojo Hedaya understands why so many people are intimidated when thinking about jumping into the startup arena, but the risks can come with some considerable rewards as in the case of Unroll Me. While creating and building a successful startup is a lot of hard work, it can be very rewarding. It’s important to be passionate about the projects you are working on or else you are much less likely to get it through the hurdles successfully. Passion will drive you through to the next day when things get tough as you truly believe in the project that you are working so hard on.
