Style icon and the former director of fashion magazine Vogue Brazil DonataMeirelles doesn’t just know about fashion. She believes that decorative candles can enhance a homes décor as well as provide soothing and calming scents. It’s well known that aromatherapy can benefit the body and the mind.

DonataMeirelles is an expert at home décor and knows how to use decorative candle arrangements. The style director of Vogue Brazil for seven years DonataMeirelles has become an expert in using candles in home decor since the golden days of the Daslu boutique. one of Brazil’s top fashion boutiques. Meirelles still misses the atmosphere of perfumed candles inside of Daslu. At home, Meirelles leaves scented candles to perfume the house. Tip #1

Welcome your guest into your home with a nice scented candle that has been strategically placed near the entrance of your home. A calm and inviting scent can make your home seem cozy and intimate.

Tip #2

Place candles in the main living areas. Place a candle in the main living room, office, and bathrooms. Always have one near the entrance to welcome visitors. Though the bedroom is frequently used, keep candles out of the bedroom, so the scent does not make you sick or disturbs your sleep,

Tip #3

Light the scented candles at dusk. If you get home from work in the evening, your home will smell welcoming.

Tip #4

Use your favorite brands of candles. Some of Meirelles’ favorite candles are by Diptyque, Jo Malone, and TâniaBulhões. At only 24 years old, Guilherme Paulus with the help of his co-founder, Carlos Vincente founded the Operadora e Agência de Viagens CVC Tour Ltda in 1972. CVC since its inception has risen to be a globally recognized tourism company. Guilherme later sold the company at $750 million. He, however, owns an 8% stake of the company. Paulus also owns the GJP hotels and resorts which are named after him, Guilherme de Jesus Paulus. It is the biggest tour operator in Latin America

Guilherme Paulus started to nurture his career when he was an IBM employee. Being an intern in IBM, Guilherme learned about how large organizations function and at only 20 years, he had a dream to apply his learning into the hospitality industry. Paulus is known for his approach of ‘one thing at a time, one resort at a time.’

GJP under Paulus has hotels and resorts throughout Brazil. With over 14 hotels, Paulus has employed over 2000 people who have served over 100,000 guests since GJP inception in 1995. GJP has hotels in Maceio, Recife, Salvador, Rio de Janeiro, and Sao Paulo. Having business administration knowledge which he studied in college, his tourism career has been a success for the past five decades due to offering contemporary travel packages to his clients. Guilherme Paulus has also ventured into the aviation industry. In 2006, Paulus bought a struggling aviation company called Webjet which in 2006, he propelled Webjet to be the third biggest airline in Brazil. He later sold Webjet to GOL (Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA) in 2011.

In Brazil, he sits as a senior member of the National Tourism Council, Sao Paulo Convention, and Visitors Bureau, and the Brazilian Association of Travel Agencies. Due to the Brazilian booming tourism industry, Paulus joined the Forbes billionaires list with a net worth of over $1.1 billion. Guilherme is also recognized globally with awards like being an important developer in tourism by the French government among other awards.

Guilherme Paulus believes optimism and gratitude keep him going. He says he could not manage his hotels were it not for organization and planning for everything beforehand.
