Chinese Business Mogul Richard Liu Qiangdong
Richard Liu Qiangdong attended a forum for business executives and entrepreneurs recently. When he attended this event, he talked about his business ventures as well as his past experiences. During the conversation with the forum’s host, Richard Liu discussed his future plans for his company JD. He intends to expand its shipping destinations and routes within the next couple of years. When Richard Liu Qiangdong finished up his compulsory education, he went on to pursue further education at the university level. He attended a couple of the top educational institutions in Beijing. He studied sociology as an undergraduate and completed a degree program in the field. Richard Liu also studied business at one of the top international business schools in China.
This educational background helped prepare him for a career as an entrepreneur. Along with completing educational programs at leading universities, Richard Liu also learned computer programming as well. While in college, Richard Liu Qiangdong got involved in entrepreneurship. His first business was in the food service industry. He founded a restaurant as a college student. While this was a very ambitious venture for Richard Liu, the establishment eventually failed. Liu revealed that the restaurant was unable to succeed because he wasn’t able to spend enough time managing it.
However he would bounce back by founding two other businesses as well as pursuing a career in computing. After closing up his restaurant, Richard Liu Qiangdong decided to work as a freelance computer programmer. This allowed him to provide programming services for many different companies. Within a few years, Richard Liu would pursue traditional employment as a top executive. He spent a few years working as a computing director for Japan Life. Richard Liu founded his second business after he resigned from Japan Life. His second business was in the retail industry where he sold optics products to consumers. This business also closed down because he was not able to sustain enough customers. Richard Liu Qiangdong realized that offering ecommerce was important to make a successful business in the retail industry. Therefore, he went on to found his third business JD.
