Dr. David Samadi And His Journey To Discovering The SMART Technique
Dr. David Samadi, along with his family, left home at the age of 15 due to the chaos of the Iranian Revolution. It was 1979 and the experience forced David and his family to seek safety in Brussels.David went on to graduate Highschool in Roslyn, NY with three key goals to live by and strive towards – respect the world around him, study hard, and become a doctor. David’s demanding work would later earn him a full scholarship to the University of New York at Stony Brook allowing him to earn his degree in biochemistry.Dr. David Samadi began volunteering at Stony Brook Hospital’s Emergency room in 1990. A humanitarian passionate about education and health, David continued to volunteer at Stony Brook for four years.
Continuing his thirst for knowledge and his passion for education and health, in 2000, Dr. David Samadi began studying various forms of cancer — prostate cancer, bladder, and testicular cancer to be precise. He later went on to become a member of the American Urologic Association Society of Urologic Oncology.Samadi went on to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York where after five years, he would receive a certificate for being an expert in the field of Prostate Cancer. Thanks to his arduous work, diligence, and passion for continuing education, Dr. David Samadi became the Director of Laparoscopic Surgery at Columbia Presbyterian.
In 2007, Dr.Samadi had a breakthrough when he developed the SMART technique. His cutting-edge technique involved adjusting the advanced robotic technique thereby creating a way of sparing the nerves of a patient during a robotic prostate surgery with the result aimed at improving the quality of sex life for patients with prostate cancer. Samadi’s techniques, while utilizes the use of a robotic platform, creates angles of dissection not possible with normal laparoscopic surgical tools.Dr. David Samadi has spent over a decade dedicating his life to medicine and in 2011 he became a contributor to Fox News Health.
